Overall I'm very satisfied with August. I replaced one position stuck in a distribution freeze and managed to add companies likely to raise dividends going forward. Throw in some decent dividend increases plus a more attractively valued market and I'm a happy camper.
I will start to consider MSFT since Ballmer is going to retire, and GE after the financial business is spun off.

Another solid month for you. It's nice to see that the dividends from your new purchases will more than compensate for the reduction from your sale. Over $400 in dividends received and 3 dividend increases make for a nice month indeed.
ReplyDeleteYeah not too shabby. I planned the O and SO purchases to replace the lost BWP income however. I'm looking to add companies with higher expected dividend growth, such as WMT, moving forward.
DeleteWow! Another nice month for you! Over $400 in a month is awesome and you added some high quality shares. I have been limited with amount of capital since trying to pay off car and go to school too. I bought a small amount of STAG with the announcement of them going to change to a monthly dividend policy and added a few more shares of ARCP.
ReplyDeleteNice! I really enjoy monthly dividends. I wish more companies would go that route outside of REITs. Best wishes to you, and I'll check out some of those REITs in 2014 when I can start contributing to my ROTH again.
DeleteAmazing month, well done. You won't consider GE prior to the spin-off? Good valuation, forward prospects, and will most likely have an interest in both companies once it occurs.
ReplyDeleteBefore I do anything, I'll have to look at in greater detail. It's my understanding that the consumer finance business is to be spun off drastically reducing the size of GE Capital.
DeleteI'm interested in the industrial side of GE, not the financial businesses. Therefore I might consider it post spin off. Too early to tell, but I will keep an eye on it. I'm still a bit weary of GE since they burned loyal shareholders only a few years ago, but I like the direction this company is heading.
CI,
ReplyDeleteGreat job. Another fine month. You're making spectacular progress and I have no doubt you'll continue on with that. Hitting over $400 in dividends this month, a number of great investments and dividend payout raises to boot. Not much to dislike there at all!
Keep up the great work.
Best wishes!
Thanks buddy!
DeleteSolid month. You had a lot of payers. I also picked up some SO and KO fairly recently. SO is slightly under my cost basis, is a steady payer and has a nice yield.
ReplyDeleteThanks AAI! It seems SO is having trouble controlling costs at the moment, something that I believe they will overcome. Though they did file to raise rates which ought to goose profits. I started looking at WEC in the utility sector, a lot to like there except I'd rather grab shares under $40.
DeleteI like your progress CI. It's motivating to push further. Trying hard though :)
ReplyDeleteThx Martin!
DeleteCongrats on a great month! I love how consistent your dividend payouts are on a monthly basis. Mine are heavily skewed towards the M/J/S/D schedule although it's getting better. I don't really aim for evenness but it's nice to have a relatively steady monthly amount to reinvest. I should be able to get back on track with DGI again in September now that we close on the house on Monday. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input. My income stream will start to become more lopsided moving forward. I will no longer enjoy BWP distributions, and it is one of my largest payments. It just works out that most of my favorite companies pay during the third month of a quarter, and those companies tend to have higher dividend growth too. I think a few years into the future, it's going to be pretty uneven. Since I track quarterly progress, it doesn't really matter to me. Hope you guys enjoy the new house, that is seriously awesome! Best wishes.
