May Recap

I believe I did an okay job selecting moderately attractive stocks in an otherwise heated market this month.  You'd have to think prices might plummet some time soon, yet nobody really knows for sure.  Even if stock prices do end up declining, I'll still be on track to meet my 2014 financial goals because a falling stock market doesn't affect an income stream.  In fact a correction would only make my job easier.

AT&T became my first holding to pay $1,000 dividend income.  It doesn't surprise me that T achieved the milestone first since it has a high yield and is one of my oldest positions.   I originally acquired a piece of the business late 2010 then purchased more the following year.  LTC Properties is set to power through the $1,000 mark during June, but past that one it ought to be a while for the rest.

  1. Congrats on a solid month and reaching $1k in dividends from T. I'm still a long ways off from reaching $1k for a position. I'm still on the lookout for fairly valued companies because I think almost everyone has been expecting a pullback since early 2013 and that hasn't happened. Eventually it'll come but I have no idea when.

    1. The big sell off has indeed been very elusive.

I have a hunch (and I'm no economist and prolly 110% wrong) that we won't see a major sell off while interest rates are this low. I mean what are the alternatives to stocks? Locking in at interest rates of 2.5%.... Would I even want to lock in at 4%? Gold at a 0% yield? Rental properties with the associated headaches???

No where else to go, which is a shame because bonds have been a historically attractive asset.

  2. Great month Compound Income! Almost $450 in dividends, a couple of dividend increase, adding to your stocks and lending club portfolio. Cha Ching. Keep it up!

For me, our dividend income this past month wasn't great but we did well in other areas. Will be posting several updates in the next few updates as well. Best wishes on continued success in your journey! AFFJ

    1. Just have to keep plugging away at it every month and see what happens. It's kind of slow, but I'm hoping to see light at the end of the tunnel in 5 years or so. I'll be on the lookout for your updates!

  3. Great stuff on AT&T bringing you in $1000! Right now KO in my portfolio has returned the most income though the majority of that is from option trades.

That was good of Fidelity to round up those shares. I will experience my first stock split next week when Apple do the 7:1 split.

    1. Hey Gareth!

The Apple split will be exciting, plus I'm sure you've made some money on that one. I see the stock is well over 600 at the moment!

  4. CI,

Another solid month, my friend. Consistent as always!

And congrats on $1k in cumulative dividends from T. I don't track this, but maybe I'll take a look. I'm quite sure PM will be my first, and may be close already.

    Best wishes.

    1. I'm not the greatest stock picker and I don't have a large income. Consistency is the only thing I have! The dividend growth/income strategy has worked well so far, especially psychologically. Catch you later.

  5. CI,
Another great month for dividends, I see. Great to follow your progress. Keep it up!

  6. CI,

I love your focus and commitment. Great month!

    1. Thanks for the encouragement, you are killing it over there!

  7. Very good month. Good payouts and purchases.
