Weekly Purchase - ABT

8 shares ABT, 2.32% yield, $7.04 annual income

This will have to be one of the shortest posts I've ever done, just don't have time to keep up with this blog at the moment.  Anyways I went with Abbott because it's one of my favorite dividend growth stocks and feel it's priced attractively as a long term hold.  Awesome company.

I'm currently away from home in North Carolina working long hours.  I have very little free time, but did get a chance to dip my toes in the Atlantic ocean a week and a half ago.  I was stationed in NC when I started this blog, kind of fun seeing people I know walking around base.

Catch you guys next week!

  1. ABT is definitely a great company and I like them even more after the spinoff. Both companies get to focus on what they do best. Baxter is doing the same thing and I hope for similar results from them once it's completed.

    1. Yep, I'm a huge fan of ABT post spinoff. That company is the most perfect healthcare company that comes to mind (for my goals) along with JNJ. I saw BAX is doing a spinoff but haven't had a chance to look at the implications yet. The ABT and COP spinoffs were very shareholder friendly. Maybe BAX will follow suit??

  2. Have fun on the east coast CI. Abbott is a great company with a variety of excellent products. I think I'll take a look at their valuation. Thanks for the idea

    1. I use a couple of their products (contact solution, energy bars), but we're also talking nutrition products (EAS protein powders), senior nutrition (Ensure), established pharmaceuticals, medical devices, plus more. Very diversified business focused on emerging markets. Not a lot to dislike about the company except the low yield imo.

  3. CI,
I nibbled on a little ABBV last Friday on the big down day. Just 20 more shares to round out my position. But it got really cheap. I also would like to pick up another 20 of ABT.

    1. Prudent decision. ABT/ABBV have been my best holdings other than RTN in terms of total return. I did sell Abbvie a few months ago because I'm not comfortable with its pharmaceutical focus. I'm kind of shy with pharma and tech. That said, you could easily make money with the stock. Best wishes!
