Recent Dividend Increases

Realty Income
O raised its monthly dividend from $.1815417 to $.1818542 per share representing a .17% increase.  While certainly a small amount, I will take an increase any time I can get one.  This increase will boost my monthly income by $.03 and my annual income by only $.36.  At least O has my best interest at heart and is likely to do quarterly raises for a while.

Philip Morris
PM raised its quarterly dividend by 10.59% from $.85 to $.94.  I am quite pleased with this double digit increase since PM is my top holding and I was expecting a lower boost for 2013.  Because I now control 104 shares, this raise will pad my annual income by a whopping $37.44 and is just as useful as a new purchase.  I really couldn't be happier!  I look forward to the day when increases from my other positions become as meaningful as this one.

Looking Forward
I expect McDonald's to unveil a higher dividend rate sometime within the next few weeks, and am also on the lookout with a few other holdings to include WPC.  Since most of the 2013 increases have already been announced, it's safe to say this has been a great year.

Hope you all have a nice weekend.  It's Miller time!

  2. Miller time? I'm posting this from the Brewer's game right now. You're not from Milwaukee are you? I have both O and MCD too. Loving the dividend increases!

    1. Hey Scott!

No I'm not from Wisconsin, but I had already started Miller time when I wrote this post. I think it turned out okay, haha! I'm currently stationed in Colorado and love it here. Cheers!

  3. I maintain a calendar of the approximate dates of the expected dividend increases for the stocks I own. I'm expecting dividend increases for MCD, LMT, and MSFT in September.

    1. Nice! I regret passing on LMT and missed a free ride to the moon with that one. Early this year I was considering it along with a couple other defense contractors. I chose RTN a while back and have enjoyed considerable dividend growth the past few years. Unfortunately I find defense contractors to be a bit pricey at the moment.

      Thanks for checking in!

  4. It wouldn't be anything extra if Realty Income wouldn't pay monthly dividend. With monthly dividend it is exceptional stock and even a small increase makes sense. It wasn't however the only increase this year by almost 19%, so no matter what, it is a great stock...

    1. I agree that O is a wonderful company! I think they'll do the standard .2% quarterly raise with occasional 2-3% raises mixed in. Over the course of a year it sure adds up.

McDonald's did a 5.2% raise. Unfortunately that is a bit smaller than usual. On the other hand they are up to a 38 year streak. WPC did a 2.4% dividend boost. This marks the 50th consecutive quarterly raise for the company and is comparable to O in many ways.
